Creating a Subscription
Subscription is created automatically when an Opportunity is won (Sales stage = Closed-Won) AND the Opportunity product line items has subscription products. You may also just manually create a Subscription record.
Create an Opportunity
- Create an Opportunity.
On Subscription details, set a Start date and End date. This will automatically set the Term (months).
The term is computed using 12 months as base month for full term computation.
On the Line Items section, click on Add button and select products from dialog box.
Products can be a combination of Subscription and Non-subscription items.
- Discounts are also treated as a product item, select if needed.
Discounts are entered on the Products module as either Discount for Subscription or Discount for Non-subscription item. Select as appropriate. - Click Done.
- Enter Quantity for subscription and non-subscription items.
Amount for Subscription items are computed as Quantity x Unit Price x Terms (pro-rated).
Amount of Non-subscription items are computed as Quantity x Unit Price x Full term.
- Enter "1" as Quantity for Discount items. Enter the discount amount on Price Unit as a negative value.
Enter Tax as needed. Tax will be applied to any taxable items on the list. Icons T for taxable and S for subscription product displays.
- SubTotal is computed as Subscription item amount + Non-subscription item amount - any discounts.
- Total is computed as Subtotal + any Tax applied to taxable items.
- Opportunity value is refreshed.
- Save Opportunity.
Automatic creation of Subscription
- Open an Opportunity record on edit mode.
- On the Sales stage field, select "Closed-Won"
- Save opportunity
- A prompt displays that a "Subscription record will be created for this opportunity." Click OK.
- Open the Won opportunity record.
- On the Other Settings tab, go to Subscription section and click the created subscription record.
Validate details.
Term, start date and end date displays.On Subscription, Product Line items only contains the subscription items, any subscription Discount applied, and tax if applied.
