Installation and Configuration

New Lotus Notes Connector Customers

For new customers, we suggest you install the Admin Database first, then install the Lotus Notes Connector. Once the Admin Database has been installed, all Lotus Notes Connector activations are performed using the Admin Database rather than directly with iEnterprises’ server. This will enable administrators to select which users in the company can use the Lotus Notes Connector. Users will be disabled from using the Connector until authorised by administrators in the Admin Database.

Existing Lotus Notes Connector Customers

For existing customers, if you are installing a newer version of the Lotus Notes Connector, we recommend you install the Admin Database first, and then install the latest Lotus Notes Connector. Even if users have previously activated the Lotus Notes Connector, once the Admin Database has installed the administrator should activate all those users within the Admin Database. The LNC plug- in will disappear from the users’ mail file if users are not in the Admin Database, this will occur during the license validation process.

To install the Admin Database:

1. Create a folder named ‘LotusNotesConnector’ in the Mail Server and copy the Admin database file (IENConnectorAdminoraclecrmod.nsf) to that folder:

DO NOT change the Filename or Path Name of the Admin database. The Lotus Notes connector on the user’s mail file will look for Admin Database in the path LotusNotesConnector\IENConnectorAdminsalesforce.nsf’ of the Mail Server, when the user tries to activate the Lotus Notes Connector for the first time. Do not create and use local Replicas of Admin Database. Administrators can use a local workstation to access the database but the Admin Database must be on the user’s home server.

Configuring Access Privileges

After installation of the Admin Database, the Access Control List will need to be configured.

    1. Open the Access Control List

    2. Set the Defaultuser Access to READER, as shown in the screen shot below. All users must have at least Reader privileges to access to the database.

  1. Administrators must have MANAGER access to Admin Database and [Administrator] role is needed. [Administrator] role is needed to manage all features in Admin Database

Admin Database must be signed with an ID that has access to every user’s mail file.

The scheduled agents in the Admin Database won’t run unless it is signed by a user who has proper Agent run rights on the hosting server.

Administrators can use the Notes Administrator Client or Designer Client or Sign Database Action in Admin Database as shown below:

You can choose to sign the Admin database with either the current User ID or the Server ID.
