Creating And Restoring Configurations
Once a working system has been set up, it can be saved to enable easy restoration if required. You can also export configuration scripts to set up new servers or as a backup, in case you are making changes to the configuration files.
Setting a Base Configuration
A base configuration is similar to a system restore point. You can save the current server configuration and if any changes are made to the configuration that cause the application to stop working, you can restore to the saved state.
To set the current version of the application as the new Base Configuration:
- Select Utility in the Navigation Menu on the left of the page.
- Select Configuration Tools in the Navigation Menu.
- You will be prompted to enter your MySQL username and password
- Click on Copy to base configuration button.
- A pop up menu will appear, enter the following:
- Password: copytodlft
- Click on OK to confirm. There will be a message showing either success or failure.
Saving Configuration Scripts
Configuration scripts can be exported for use in setting up new servers or for creating backups of the current configuration. These files are downloaded and stored on your local machine.
It is recommended to save the current configuration scripts prior to making any changes to fields or modules, in case a mistake is made and you need to revert to a previous version.
Once saved, you are able to import script files to restore a server to an earlier configuration state or to replicate the configuration to another server.
To save the configuration scripts:
- Select Utility in the Navigation Menu on the left of the page.
- Select Configuration Tools in the Navigation Menu.
- You will be prompted to enter your MySQL username and password
- Click on GenerateScripts button.
- You will see a prompt to confirm. Select 'Yes'.
- A window will open for you to select a save location.
- A script file named MeConfigData[English].txt will be saved on your local machine.
The language set as default will appear within the brackets, if English is not your default.
Import/Export Configuration
This will allow you to export a copy of the Server Configuration (graphics, JavaScript, HTML, etc), and/or import to this or another iEnterprise Mobile™ Server.
- Select Utility in the Navigation Menu on the left of the page.
- Select Configuration Tools in the Navigation Menu.
- You will be prompted to enter your MySQL username and password
- To Export:
- Click on the 'Export' button
- Choose a save location and click 'Save'.
- To Import:
- Click 'Choose a File'. A window will open for you to select your file from a save location.
- Click 'Import'
Restoring Base Configuration
You can restore the application to a previously saved default configuration or Base Configuration, unless you have imported a configuration script. If a script is imported, your Base Configuration will automatically be updated as part of the import process.
To restore the Base Configuration:
- Select Utility in the Navigation Menu on the left of the page.
- Select Configuration Tools in the Navigation Menu.
- You will be prompted to enter your MySQL username and password:
- Click on Restore button.
- A pop up menu will appear, enter the Server Admin password and click on OK to confirm.
- There will be a message showing Success or Failure
Restoring a Configuration Script
You can restore previously saved scripts to replace the current configuration, if you need to revert to a previously saved configuration. This can also be used to set up a new server, using the same iEnterprise Mobile™ configuration.
To restore a configuration script file:
- Select Utility in the Navigation Menu on the left of the page.
- Select Configuration Tools in the Navigation Menu.
- You will be prompted to enter your MySQL username and password
- In the Select a script file to upload field, select the script file that you want to upload.
- Click Choose File to open up a file selection box. Go to the location where the configuration script file (.txt) is saved and select it.
- Click on the Read button.
- When ready, click the Execute button.
- Enter the password: changeit
- Scroll to the bottom of the script and review any errors. You can use your browser to search for the term "error".
The configuration script will be imported and the Base Configuration will be saved to match the imported file. You now need to restore this Base Configuration as follows so that the changes are implemented:
- Select Utility in the Navigation Menu on the left of the page.
- Select Configuration Tools in the Navigation Menu.
- You will be prompted to enter your MySQL username and password
- Click on Restore button.
- A pop up menu will appear, enter the Admin application password and click on OK to confirm.
Restoring a Previous CAD
In some cases you will need to revert to a previous CAD as the Production CAD. This can happen if there is a corruption in the current production CAD, or an incorrect CAD were saved as the Production version.
To Rollback to a previous configuration:
- Select Utility in the Navigation Menu on the left of the page.
- Select Configuration Tools in the Navigation Menu.
- You will be prompted to enter your MySQL username and password.
- In the section 'Rollback Configuration' there is a drop-down menu link. Click this to see a list of configuration versions.
- Choose a version.
- A prompt box will appear asking you to confirm that this is the CAD you want.
- When you click 'Yes', a page displaying the scripts will appear with three options:
- Back to Console: this will take you back to the Admin console and out of the Utilities Section.
- Back: This will back you up on step to the Configuration Tool section.
- Execute: This will run the Rollback.
