Viewing / interacting with records
Viewing records
When viewing a list of records, tap on a record to view its details:
- On an iPhone, the screen will refresh to display the record. When viewing the record, a < arrow navigates back to the list of records.
- On the iPad, details will be displayed on the right side of the screen. There is no need to refresh the screen as space allows the display of both the list and detailed information.
Key
- Edit / Delete icons – these are displayed IF the current record can be edited / removed / deleted.
- Basic record details – depending on how fields are grouped in the server, some record details will be displayed at the top of the screen.
- Details toggle – this displays / hides information that cannot be displayed in the basic record details screen. The display will extend to display additional information.
- Related list – this shows related objects, tapping on the bar will display a list of related records. The number of related records (on the current device) is displayed in brackets.
- Plus icon – wherever a plus icon is displayed, tapping on it will create a new record. In the related list, tapping + on Activity will create an Activity record (related to current record). You can see Creating / editing records for more information.
Interacting with records
Depending on the type of data being displayed, links are available in the application and are highlighted in blue. Selecting a link will perform the following actions:
- Phone numbers – iMessage, Facetime, Call (iPhone only), SMS (iPhone only)
- Email addresses – Mail, iMessage, Facetime. Only the native device email clients are supported.
- Website addresses – Launch website browser (preview) in current application
- Address information – Launch Apple Maps and search for the address
A dialog box will be displayed asking you which operation you wish to perform where more than one choice is available.
Note: The ability to interact with other applications depends on your configuration settings. If you cannot interact with a field, please contact your iEnterprise Mobile™ Server Administrator.
When launching a website, we do not launch a full browser. The facility is designed to offer a preview of a webpage, as a result, the preview may not be fully operational. The screen will refresh in the iPhone to display the page with a 'Back' link. On an iPad, the preview is displayed in the right side of the application, so record lists are still available:
