Reference-Implicit Fields (MSCRM Only)

These type fields can only be used in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Reference-Implicit Fields are used within modules that could have one of a number of different parent records.

An example could be an Appointment, which might be associated with Accounts, Contacts or Opportunities. The parent object would be defined by whichever modules was selected when the Appointment record was created. If a Contact record was being viewed when it was created, that would become the parent object.

To define which modules are potential parent modules using the Reference-Implicit field:

1. Map a new field, as described in Mapping New Fields.
2. It is not essential, but references are normally mapped to the Server Field Names ending with REF1, REF2, REF3, REF4 or REF5 to indicate they are a reference.
3. Click on the Edit Icon to the right of the field to edit its settings.
4. In the Type field, select REFERENCE-IMPLICIT.
5. In the Reference field, select the modules you wish to set as potential parent objects.
6. On a PC, hold down the CTRL key to select more than one module.
7. On a Mac, hold down the CMD key to select more than one module.
8. Click on Submit to save changes.
9. Click Yes to confirm in the pop up dialog box.
