Understanding the Search Structure

Searches in Swift MEAP are always performed against the first characters of a record. For example, searching for "Enterprises" will return results such as "Enterprises North" but will not display a record named "Systems Enterprises".
Searches are also conducted against all fields in view. To explain this search functionality, the following demonstration data will be used:

In the example above, the following fields are displayed:

  • Last name – shown in bold.
  • First name – shown adjacent to last name.
  • Job title – shown below name fields
  • Location name – displayed in the column on the right.

The search facility from within Swift MEAP is completed against all fields displayed. Using the data shown, typing the letter "s" would display the following records:

These records are displayed for the following reasons:

  • Sarah Binute – First name begins with the letter "s".
  • Wilfred Bony – Location begins with the letter "s".
  • Chris Cooper – Title begins with the letter "s".

If you are searching for a particular record, typing more than one letter narrows results further.
